John F. Kennedy Memorial School

In 1964 the Right Reverend Monsignor Micheal Maloney founded The John F. Kennedy Memorial School. Our school is located north of the River Shannon on the main Limerick to Ennis Road. Our school is named after the American President John Fitzgerald Kennedy. Back in 1963 the president visited Ireland. Many people loved the American president as his grandparents has come from Ireland and settled in America to build a new life for them. On the last day of his visit President Kennedy addressed thousands of people in Limerick. Monsignor Moloney and he was very impressed by him. In November that year President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas Texas. Monsignor Moloney decided to name the new primary school after his memory. Our school is a senior boys' primary school. In 2012, an entirely new school was opened following the demolition of the original buildings which served so well for 48 years of which former principal, Bill Reidy served 45 as teacher and principal.
