Science Week 2016
Our school marked Science week by attending some of the events organised by University of Limerick and Limerick Institute of Technology.
We also held a very successful and enjoyable school exhibition in the halla where boys from all classes gave demonstrations on different Scientific activities. Mile buiochas to Ms Halpin for organising the event and to all the boys who gave excellent accounts of their different activities.
Ms. Halpin's Fifth Class took part in a robotics workshop. This is an initiative funded and promoted by Analog Devices and delivered by Colmac Robotics. The children learned about construction, gear ratios balance, speed, velocity, gravity and computer programming. Click the link to read a recount of the day's event's written by Ben Guest Murray
We are participated in the Greenwave project for Primary Schools. We tracked the signs of Spring by logging our observations on the Horse Chestnut Tree, the Ash Tree, the Primrose, frogspawn and the swallow. We also recorded the temperature, rainfall and wind speed daily during the months of February, March April and May.

As part of Engineers week we made hovercrafts using a cd, a balloon, adhesive tape, card and a biro lid. We had great fun testing our hovercrafts and discovered that our hovercrafts moved around with very little friction as a real hovercraft would.
