On Thursday the 19 October, JFK played Our Lady Queen of Peace in Old Christians GAA pitch for a place in the gaelic football final.
A couple of minutes in, Mark Hogan scored the first goal of the game. Straight after our first goal, the goals and points kept coming. Scores came from Colin O’Donnell, Conor McNamara, Lloyd Costelloe to name a few. It was very cold, wet and muddy but we still dominated the first half, only conceding a point thanks to the work of our backs. At half-time the score was 4-3 to a point, with the coaches telling us to see out the game.
Early on in the second half it the story continued, JFK scoring lots of points and our opposition barely getting into our half with good defending, particularly from Tadhg Mullane and Louis Murphy. We worked very hard and gave them no mercy and the goals continued to come. Near the end of the match the opponents were tired and seemed to have just wanted the game to end. When the whistle blew for full-time we may have been very dirty and wet but we felt fantastic.
We had great fun and looked forward to making our school proud in the final against St. Brigid’s in the Gaelic Grounds.
